Where do you
most use cookbooks? In the kitchen. So don't put them on the family room
bookshelf. Install a horizontal shelf in the kitchen to hold your cookbooks.
Place it away from the stove and anywhere the books might get splattered in
passing. Mount the shelf at head and shoulder level so you can easily see
and reach the books. But if you keep a kitchen step stool handy anyway, you
could place the shelf higher. Just be sure to secure it tightly to the wall
since books are heavy.
