These days everyone owns a vacuum cleaner. And many people
also own a wet/dry vacuum, a carpet cleaner, a portable steamer and other
similar items. What do all these items have in common? Accessory parts and
hoses.
What do less than organized people do with these accessory
parts and hoses? Mix them up and lose them. Since we own so many of these items
in my family (including since deceased items with their accessories leftover in
our home), I've been looking into a way to organize these items. I found a
couple of solutions so far. And this is for the parts that don't have designated
storage spots on the individual machines.
♦Solution one is to use a labelmaker (they are so handy) to
label each accessory item. Just designate the item it belongs to like "shop vac"
or "Eureka vacuum".
♦Then you can
put the smaller accessory items in one single large open bin that you keep in
the utility area or garage.
♦You want to
keep it somewhere handy if you clean a lot with these tools. You can hang the
(labeled) hoses, such as from the carpet shampoo machine, on large hooks that
are appropriate for the weight. You find these hooks in the hardware sections of
major discount retailers (they're often large orange plastic coated hooks or
such).
♦The second solution is to utilize this nifty wire coated
Vacuum Accessory Caddy
from Organize-Everything. And who says it'll only work for the vacuum? Buy a
separate one for the carpet shampooer and other items. You can also find this
vacuum accessory caddy at Stacks and Stacks here:

♦And make sure
you cluster them side-by-side in the garage so you always know to look in one
spot for these type items.
