Storing Extra Rolls of Toilet Paper
Storing extra rolls of toilet tissue paper may not seem like
a big organizational issue. But when you or a guest is in the bathroom and run
out...well, then it's suddenly important. But you don't have to throw a bag of
toilet tissue under your sink where it's either in the way all the time or hard
to get to
when you want it.
Nor do you have to leave extra rolls in plain site--that is unless you do so
tastefully.
One way to keep your extra rolls of toilet tissue undercover
and mostly dust-free but handy is in a rectangular basket that fits on top of
the toilet tank. It may have a lid or not. But this is not ordinary toilet paper
storage; instead, this is part of your home decor. For instance,
Organize-Everything sells the seagrass
Toilet Paper Holder. It has three separate lids for three separate
compartments--two end compartments hold toilet paper rolls and the middle compartment
holds tissues. And it fits in that unused space on your toilet tank top.
If your bathroom has chrome accessories, you could keep
extra rolls of toilet paper in plain sight and still blend it with the home
decor. For instance, this
5-Roll Toilet Paper Holder
rack by Organize-Everything goes on the wall. So
once again you're not utilizing precious cabinet space that you need for other
bathroom items like your toiletries.
You also can find enclosed cylindrical tower toilet paper holders,
usually made of plastic with a lid that will hold four to five rolls of toilet
paper. This usually come in basic colors like white or green. You often see
these inexpensive toilet paper roll holders in mail order catalogue type stores.
(I own one of these inexpensive plastic tower holders plus utilize back of the
toilet tank basket storage in both of my bathrooms. All of these options work
great for holding toilet tissue rolls.) Walter Drake sells one
called the
Tissue Pillar. Put these free-standing towers stand on the floor behind the toilet or in another
inconspicuous location. The lids keep your tissue clean and free of water
splashes from the sink (in addition to hiding your rolls of toilet tissue from
plain view).
Just be sure that you buy rolls of tissue that fit into
the holders. For instance some double rolls or extra large rolls of toilet
tissue paper are too wide to fit in the toilet paper holders pictured on this
page. Most are made to fit regular size rolls of toilet tissue. You'll learn
what fits best in any toilet paper holder by trial and error.
And of course, if you stock up on toilet paper due to a
good sale, you can always store extra rolls on a shelf in your garage or in
another storage cabinet elsewhere in your home or even in a backyard storage
shed. Then just bring four or five extra rolls into each of your bathrooms.
